Experienced MVHR design, supply and installation for homes across Scotland’s islands, including ferry-dependent and off-grid properties.
Fitting an MVHR system on an island isn’t the same job as fitting one on the mainland… Ferry timetables, weather-dependent sailings, delivery lead times and, often, more exposed and salt-laden conditions all have to be factored into the plan. Clydebank Installations Ltd has over 35 years’ experience in the ventilation trade, including a completed self-build project on Millport, Isle of Cumbrae, and we’re used to planning installations around island logistics rather than being caught out by them.
“Clydebank Installations Ltd fitted the MVHR system in my self build home in Millport, Isle of Cumbrae. The service from Allan and his team was courteous, efficient and professional. The finished product was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this contractor.” — Colin McGregor, Self Builder, Isle of Cumbrae
“Excellent installation of our MVHR system by Allan. We live on an island off the west coast of Scotland and are having a house built which requires MVHR. We never had to chase for an update and were very happy with standard of workmanship. Would highly recommend.” — Simon Brown
Island homes face some of the toughest conditions in Scotland for building performance: constant wind-driven rain, salt-laden air, and often limited or expensive heating options where mains gas isn’t available. Many island properties are self-builds or renovations designed to be highly airtight and energy efficient which makes mechanical ventilation essential, not optional. Without it, moisture from cooking, bathing and everyday living has nowhere to go, leading to condensation, mould and cold, damp rooms.
MVHR continuously extracts stale, moist air and supplies fresh, filtered air, recovering the heat from the outgoing air rather than losing it, which is a genuine advantage as heating costs on islands can run higher than on the mainland. It also pairs well with off-grid and renewable heating setups (heat pumps, biomass, solar), which are common on island self-builds, helping the whole system work harder for less energy.
We plan deliveries, site visits and installation timescales around ferry schedules and weather windows, so island logistics don’t become your problem.
New builds, self-builds, renovations and retrofits
Scheduled servicing, planned around ferry access
Diagnosis and repair to get your system back up and running
Careful handling for island logistics
Filter changes and duct cleaning
Checks and adjustments after alteration or repair
A/C, containment, piping, drains and wiring

Clydebank Installations ltd fitted the MVHR system in my self build home In Millport , Isle of Cumbrae. The service from Allan and his team was courteous efficient and professional. The finished product was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend this contractor.
I have worked with Allan and his team on numerous projects, always found him very helpful, organised with extremely good workmanship, works extremely well alongside other trades onsite and is very accommodating, helping find solutions when the inevitable problems arise.
Anderson Floor Warming recently subcontracted Clydebank Installations to install the mechanical ventilation heat recovery system within a large, high-end spec. domestic property in the west end of Glasgow. Allan’s design input was very helpful and assisted us to tailor the outline design provided by the client’s Consulting Engineer. We found Clydebank Installations’ standard of workmanship to be very good and they were very professional in their approach throughout the installation and commissioning of the system. We have no hesitation recommending them or using them again.
